Per,
  The latest plugin update for VMD 1.8.5 includes an updated GAMESS
plugin by Markus Dittrich that has been updated and has successfully
loaded some PC-GAMESS output files. Alternatively, you can try
one of the beta versions of VMD 1.8.6 which include that plugin already.
