VMD 1.8.3a7 closes almost immediately after opening now that I have
installed the new nvidia driver. It was working before (without hardware
acceleration), and now closes after the main screen opens (nothing gets
drawn to that window). But it does work with the option --dispdev text.

I installed vmd 1.8.2 and it works fine with hardware acceleration, so I
don't think it is a problem with the computer. I have also tried
reinstalling the program but it exhibits the same behavior.

This is on SuSE 9.1 x86_64.
