Ah, nevermind, I see that what you're after is the use of the new
Tcl 8.5.x mathfunc routines. To get that, you'll have to recompile
VMD from source, against the Tcl 8.5 distribution. Many of the functions
that are part of the Tcl 8.5 ::tcl::mathfunc built-ins are also available
by the existing "expr" command in the older versions of Tcl.
Current versions of VMD are compiled against Tcl 8.4.x as it is
the stable branch of Tcl development.
