Dear VMD-L,
We've been busy recently implementing some new code in
VMD for support of low-cost stereoscopic display on PC's and
workstations using the ~$120 Eye3D stereo glasses and similar
products, and we've been working on adding visualization of
volumetric data such as can be exported from programs such as
Delphi, EDM files, QM programs, and other sources. For those
that are interested in helping us test early versions of this
code, send us an email and I'll provide you with binaries to
try out. We're particularly interested in people that want
to try out the volumetric rendering features, as they provide
a Tcl interface to allow you to load in volumetric data from
almost anywhere, and associate it with a molecule in VMD for
display and coloring. With some early feedback and community
involvement, we hope to ship this in an upcoming VMD 1.7.1
version, with translator and loader scripts for various kinds
of data that people want to work with. Your feedback will help
us figure out what translator and loader scripts we need, even
better, you could help us write them! :-)

Anyway, if you're interested in seeing these features in their
current baby-steps stage, let me know.
