Klaus Schulten. Electron transfer: Exploiting thermal motion. Science, 290:61-62, 2000.

SCHU2000 Proteins have to perform their functions with precision at physiological conditions, where thermal fluctuations can be substantial. In his Perspective, Schulten highlights the study by Balabin and Onuchic [Science 290, 114-117 (2000)], whose simulations have shown that proteins exploit thermal fluctuations to their advantage in a new and unexpected way.
