Hi,
  One possibility that comes to mind: Does that directory path leading
to the file in question contain any spaces? It's possible that if the
path contains spaces, you might have found a bug in the NAMD GUI plugin.
What happens if you put a copy of the file in a short directory path
with no spaces? What OS/platform are you running on?
